Paul Acosta + Google = Bear Attack in Alaska

A google search for my name gave me some pretty boring search results. For the most part, just my name will yield countless mugshots of other "Acostas" on the internet and latin musicians. I knew if I was going to get anything I'd have to refine my search tactics a little better. What better way to find all the internets easter eggs of myself than to start off by adding my hometown of Juneau,Alaska after my name. I was reminded of my only claim to fame..

So a bear broke into our place while we were inside it in 2005. No big deal. I was surprised to find various news outlets covering the story. I still remember the next day after the attack when we got a bunch of photographers and news reporters rummaging about our property like it was some crime scene. For the most part all the articles read the same. Search results often came up with the same rehashed story.
We also made the "Weird But True" column for the New York Post. The facts weren't reported very well however, because it reads that I was the one asleep in the living room when the bear broke in when it was really my dad. I couldn't find too much of anything else other than this. A majority of other news outlets took little snippets from the original Juneau Empire article and someone even posted the article in a forum for Fortean Times titled "Out of Place Animals."

How I tell the story to my friends

what my dad and I saw for about an hour
